Stainless Steel 409 pipes contain chromium (10.5–11.75%), carbon (<0.08%), and trace amounts of manganese and silicon. With a tensile strength of around 380 MPa and yield strength about 170 MPa, they provide adequate strength for structural and automotive applications. While they are not as corrosion-resistant as higher alloy grades, 409 offers excellent weldability and formability.
