Stainless steel 904L pipe fittings are fabricated from a super austenitic alloy composition with 19–23% chromium, 23–28% nickel, 4–5% molybdenum, 1–2% copper, and carbon content that is low. This alloy has superb resistance to severe reducing acids such as sulfuric acid, pitting, and crevice corrosion in chloride-rich conditions. The fittings have mechanical properties such as tensile strength of 490–710 MPa and yield strength of approximately 220 MPa. 904L also has superb weldability and toughness, making it suitable for harsh industrial systems that need long-term performance.
