Stainless Steel 321 tubing consists primarily of iron, chromium (17–19%), and nickel (9–12%), with an addition of titanium (up to 0.70%) to promote resistance to intergranular corrosion. The titanium stabilization provides 321 stainless steel outstanding strength at high temperatures, better than the 304-grade stainless. These tubes have a tensile strength of around 515 MPa and a yield strength of around 205 MPa, with favorable elongation and hardness. The alloy is resistant to mechanical integrity in hot environments and has applications in heat-affected uses, retaining good weldability and formability for fabrication purposes.
