Stainless Steel 301 bolts include chromium (16–18%), nickel (6–8%), and low carbon (<0.15%). The austenitic structure allows for a tensile strength of up to 690 MPa after cold working, with a yield strength of 275 MPa in annealed condition. Elongation averages 40%, ensuring ductility. Their corrosion resistance is similar to that of 304 in many environments, but slightly lower due to less nickel. Stainless Steel 301 provides excellent toughness and mechanical strength, particularly when hardened by cold working.
